If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse who is Day Surgery trained who likes small town living, this position in Olds might be for you! This role is Monday to Friday. The Olds Hospital and Care Center OR program has a busy orthopedic program, with other specialties such as urology, gemological surgeries, obstetrical cases. Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:1-3 years’ experience in the Day Surgery setting. 1-3 years’ experience with Pre-Admission Clinic, pre/post op care. IV Medication Administration. Ability to start IV effectively. Effective communication skills are essential. Patient and family teaching on pre and post op care Assisting in getting patients ready for the OR, obtain a detailed history, and pre/post OR checklist. Working with in a team dynamic is essential, in addition to efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with orthopedic, urology, gynecological, obstetrical - delivery /c-sections. Ability to work in a past paced environment. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods. It's Your Move Certificate.
