Your Opportunity: Come join our team and make a difference in the lives of patients and families at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. The Peter Lougheed Centre Pediatric Unit accepts patients from birth to 18 years of age. This is a fast paced, dynamic environment with an emphasis on family centered care and teamwork. Unit 41 is an acute care general pediatric unit that includes a pediatric follow-up clinic. The unit will soon have additional pediatric medical/psychiatric beds. This unit will provide an opportunity to add several areas for growth and learning in a dynamic pediatric environment.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Fluent in spoken and written English. Must work to full scope of practice including but not limited to IV initiation certification. Demonstrated Patient/family teaching skills required. Demonstrated understanding of PFCC philosophy. Demonstrated critical thinking & decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated written & oral communication skills. Basic computer skills required Must work to full scope of practice including but not limited to IV initiation certification. Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching, assisting with patient transfers and other duties related to patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of Pediatric nursing experience (within the last 5 years). PEARS/PALS Certification an asset. Pediatric Mental health experience. NVCI, Attachment Theory, Trauma Informed Care, Collaborative Problem Solving, the Brain Story.
