Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Successful completion of a Perioperative Course within the previous 5 years. 5 yrs direct OR experience without the Perioperative Course. Registered with CLPNA with Advanced Perioperative Nursing. Extent and type of past operating room experience may be considered if beyond five years. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Repeated contact with radiographic procedures and ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period. Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgement. Demonstrates communication skills promoting respect and team spirit.
Preferred Qualifications:At least 2 years of previous experience in an inpatient surgical unit. Experience in an operating room setting. Job Shadow in the Operating Room. Completion of Connect Care Training an asset.
