Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in an outpatient clinic (minimum one year of experience in the last three years in an FTE position). Three years of current acute care medical / surgical clinical experience (within the last 5 years). Aptitude for or demonstrated excellence in in initiating, maintaining and in decision-making related to venous access. Aptitude for or experience in adult teaching and learning required. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced changing environment required. Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment required. Must be willing to take direction from physicians and other Registered Nurses/LPNs. Strong critical thinking skills within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills required. Must be self-directed, organized, motivated and able to prioritize and keep pace in a busy clinic environment. Excellent English verbal and written skills required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Excellent time management skills required. Must be able to assist patients with mobility deficits; ability to transfer patients to stretcher required. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment: constant walking, lifting, standing and bending is necessary. This position requires on-call duties as per the rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in HPTP preferred. Interest in and expertise in comprehensive patient assessments and patient education preferred. Current expertise in management of parenteral therapies preferred.
