Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
At Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) we are committed to providing high quality, compassionate and patient/family centered care. RGH has many unique features that benefit mental health including beautiful walking paths. PES is a 24hrs service operating out of the RGH Emergency Department (ED) that focuses on the assessment and treatment of patients presenting to the ED in a psychiatric or psychosocial crisis. With a dedicated area within the RGH ED, PES provides both direct bedside nursing care for patients awaiting inpatient beds and treatment in the ED and referral recommendations for patients presenting to the ED. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) will work within an interprofessional team that specializes in the delivery of quality acute psychiatric care to patients presenting in crisis. Using Trauma Informed Care, the recovery model, and an understanding of the DSM V-TR, the LPN will support patients in understanding their mental health and developing strategies to manage their mental health. Working to a full scope of practice as specified by the CLPNA, the LPN will provide direct bedside care to patients awaiting an inpatient bed or assessment by PES or the Emergency Department (ED). As a consulting PES Nurse, the LPN will conduct holistic assessments to determine level of illness and risk and make recommendations to Emergency Physicians and Psychiatrists regarding the plan of care. This role will require collaboration with services and organization of referrals to community services or admission to inpatient units based on client need. The LPN, in collaboration with the patient, will create an effective plan and identify appropriate services for clients and arrange care.
