Your Opportunity:
Unit 4E4 is a 25-bed unit for patients from birth to 18 years old, covering various specialties like pediatric medicine, neurology, nephrology, pulmonary/respiratory, mental health, and overflow from other departments. The Licensed Practical Nurse - Pediatric Medicine 4E4 leads the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, following the policies of the University of Alberta Hospital and Stollery Children’s Hospital, practicing to the full scope defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta. Opportunities for professional growth include unit-based safety/education sessions, skill certifications, unit quality council, and Alberta Health Services initiatives. Staff within the Medicine Program may be cross-trained to support other pediatric inpatient units within the Stollery as required.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Successfully pass the Stollery PEARS course (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization Course), completed in orientation. Successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration exam. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrated initiative, accountability, problem-solving, organizational skills, and effective time management. Strong decision-making, assessment, and critical thinking skills. Ability to adapt and work within a fast-paced, and time-sensitive environment with competing responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with children with tracheostomies and medically fragile patient populations is considered an asset and preferred. Connect Care Training and experience consider an asset
