Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Must have a minimum of 2 years in surgical nursing experience, within the past 3 years, in order to provide thorough and skilled pre-op and post operative assessment and teaching within the Pre-Admission Clinic. To be successful, the candidate must be able to assess and collect information from clients while using computer tools and information entry. A minimum typing speed of 35 WPM is a must. Intermediate computer skills are also a requirement for this position. Excellent English language skills required. Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated proficiency in clinical surgical and medical assessment skills within scope of practice. Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills. Demonstrated effective patient teaching experience (both written and verbal). Demonstrated high functioning time-management. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means.
