Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3 years of recent clinical knowledge and experience in a variety of nursing specialties including, but not limited to: acute care, primary care, chronic disease management especially diabetes, palliative care, reproductive and sexual health, mental health and addictions, pediatrics and/or rural nursing. Experience working in an Indigenous community or health environment. Must possess a sound understanding of Indigenous Peoples and the determinants of health. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills required. Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Depth and breadth of nursing knowledge and complex reasoning reflective of level of education. Strong communication skills with effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills to improve interprofessional patient/community-centered care. Compassionate and caring attitude; conveying respect and dignity of all persons. Experience with working with family physicians and specialists. Must have knowledge of AHS computer programs/systems such as Connect Care, Microsoft Office and Netcare. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to standing, bending, walking; pushing & pulling equipment; & must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur.
Preferred Qualifications:To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. Knowledge of and sensitivity around the culture, health issues, treaty rights, jurisdictional issues, historical impact of the urban and rural Indigenous people/communities in Alberta. Ability to speak or understand an Indigenous language (i.e., Cree, Dene). Group facilitation skills and experience would be an asset.
