Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides safe and effective nursing care within their full scope of practice. The LPN participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient response, they will participate in quality monitoring activities to improve outcomes. Employees will participate in quality monitoring activities. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient, the LPN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The LPN may be assigned in the med/surg or the LDRP area of the unit. The LPN facilitates patient and family centered education and discharge planning, in accordance with the established standards, and the Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services. Graduated from an accredited nursing education program.
Preferred Qualifications:Current NRP certification is preferred. Min 2 yrs of recent med/surg nursing exp. Min 2 yrs of recent obstetrical nursing exp. The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision making ability. Completion of SCC’s will be expected.
