Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience with legislation and standards as it relates to home care. Strong interpersonal communication and interdisciplinary team player skills. Excellent assessment skills supporting critical thinking, creativity, resourcefulness, time management, and organization abilities. Knowledge of the continuing care sector and various levels of care. Demonstrated ability to also work independently using sound professional judgment. Ability to monitor financial accountabilities. Familiarity with computer systems including but not limited to Meditech/PARIS, Microsoft Office, Lync/Skype for Business. Excellent attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability to the home care program which can be demonstrated through previous employment. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong clinical background in nursing with three years of Licensed Practical Nurse experience obtained within the last five years in a home care setting; continuing care experience may be considered. Experience in the following: providing wound care with excellent knowledge of wound care principles and wound care product use; palliative care; provision of home parenteral therapy; provision of effective education and client teaching. Training in basic case management principles.
