Qualified to practice law in Alberta and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta. Previous legal practice with a privacy focus. Demonstrated knowledge as a practicing lawyer in privacy matters with excellent legal and analytic skills.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in Alberta privacy legislation including the Health Information Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Experience negotiating and drafting privacy provisions in commercial agreements as well as standalone Data Sharing Agreements and Information Management Agreements. Also, an understanding of privacy impact assessments, to be able to provide privacy advice. Experience in conducting OIPC Investigations, Inquiries, and Complaints on behalf of public sector entities is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of cybersecurity risks facing large, complex organizations as well as knowledge of the role privacy plays in analytics, research, and artificial intelligence in the Healthcare space. Privacy qualifications such as: University of Alberta: Information Access and Protection of Privacy Certificate; Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP); Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM); and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) would be considered an asset.
