Your Opportunity:
A key role within the University of Albera Hospital portfolio supporting Edmonton Zone programs, the Program Lead provides leadership in the strategic design, implementation and evaluation of health service initiatives to improve patient experience and health outcomes. The Program Lead will work closely with the Executive Director for the UAH and Edmonton Zone Medicine Program as well as physician leaders and Patient Care Managers to support the operational needs of these programs, to plan and implement process improvement and change, and provide support to individuals and units within these programs. This position assesses program needs, identifies solutions to non-standard issues and requests, and anticipates internal and external business challenges and issues. The Program Lead is recognized as an expert as it relates to process improvement methodologies, their implementation and change management. The incumbent provides clinical, economic, policy and outcome evaluation of process improvement initiatives that advance the program to meet the AHS mission, goals, focus, values, and priorities. The position requires continued adaptation to an evolving health system.
Description:
The Program Lead supports and provides leadership in the development and implementation of the program strategic and operational planning. Assists in the development of strategy that reflects the short- and long-term operational goals and objectives of the program. Ensures that program strategic and operation plans support and align with Alberta Health Services’ vision, mission, values and strategic direction. Ensures processes are in place for engagement with senior leadership, key partners, facility physicians and staff. Works closely with site/zone operations to identify and manage impacts to programs and services resulting from the development of the various initiatives. Leads assigned projects/initiatives including monitoring of business plans, project plans and budgets. Uses project management methodology and tools to ensure the development of comprehensive and integrated implementation plans. Leads, manages and monitors projects and the development of proposals and briefing notes working with operational leaders across the zone and province. Conducts analysis and raw data interpretation and assist in the recommendations of best practice and service deliver.

Undergraduate degree in a healthcare profession with 5 years of acute care clinical experience. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in areas of strategic planning, project management, utilization management, quality improvement, data analysis and information management, and program development and evaluation. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required. Demands critical thinking as well as managing a dynamic high-volume workload with many competing priorities. Ability to deal with highly complex or sensitive issues in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters level degree in a discipline relevant to health care profession, health care administration, and or business administration. Experience in process improvement, Implementation science, PROSCI, or Lean training is desired. Experience in a management role, CNE, Team Lead, or business administration is an asset. Effective communicator with exemplary verbal and business writing and presentation development skills. Proven ability to foster effective partnership and collaboration.
