Completion of Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
Additional Required Qualifications:CMLTA registration and a MLT practice permit required. Employers retain the discretion to request CSMLS certification. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory required. Proficiency with manual techniques required. Proficiency with windows-based computer applications (ex. Microsoft Office, database/spreadsheet applications) is required. Clear understanding and experience with use of statistical calculations is required. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Must be an organized, independent worker, and a strong team player committed to providing quality patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:Current experience with laboratory scientist activities, including the development, validation or implementation of clinical chemistry laboratory equipment, is strongly preferred. Recent experience with Connect Care, SoftTech, and Traccess is preferred. Knowledge of pre-analytical testing processes, laboratory safety procedures, test method/process evaluation, equipment evaluation, literature review, quality control, proficiency testing review/documentation, and document writing is preferred.
