Your Opportunity:
The CNE surgical program position is a key clinical support for PCU 5W at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. In this role you will act as a change agent and resource to nursing staff to promote professional development and support clinical competence. You will be responsible for identifying staff learning needs, and planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating education activities. The CNE may also participate in the provision of direct and/or indirect patient care. This role requires collaboration with the unit manager and team lead around quality improvement initiatives to optimize quality and patient outcomes.
Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in nursing and a minimum of 5 years recent (within the last 2 years) clinical experience in acute in-patient medical/surgical nursing. Knowledge of adult learning theory and debriefing for meaningful learning strategies; strong analytic skills and the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to staff learning needs. Experience with educational content development and delivery using a variety of learner centric methods; knowledge of program evaluation approaches and outcomes measurements. Familiarity with clinical quality standards and accreditation processes. Ability to balance numerous demands and competing priorities effectively and complete projects in a timely manner. Excellent computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Connect Care, Microsoft Office suite, and Teams. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and lead teams through change.
Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree preferred. Involvement in developing, delivering and implementing educational programs or initiatives an asset. Coaching and mentoring skills. Demonstrated effective collaboration within a team environment. Understanding and application of information and communication technologies. Preferred experience with all Microsoft office applications. Interview process will include a presentation by interviewee on an assigned topic.
