Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years nursing experience in a variety of acute care nursing areas such as critical care and emergency department or medicine and 2 years of experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator or instructor. One of the following Specialized nursing skills peritoneal dialysis, ventilator care, Intermediate care (including telemetry), or OPREP training for oncology patients. Knowledge of CoACT, AHS collaborative care framework and their care elements. Proven track record with teaching adults using several different mediums such as one on one, classroom, skills lab, simulations, computer modules, both virtually and in person. Experience applying adult learning principles with teaching, curriculum development, implementation and evaluation health content for employees and patients. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and knowledge of best practice. Candidates must be highly motivated, self-directed, flexible and have an established evaluation process for their teaching effectiveness and must be extremely organized and have strong interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills are necessary with experience with Connect Care, Power Point, and other virtual teaching tools such as Snag It.
Preferred Qualifications:Master of Nursing preferred. Experience with RLS and clean hands portal ideal. Process improvement courses and/or certification is an asset. Training/courses in leadership, conflict resolution, change management and communication is an asset. Experience working as a nurse in multiple sub-specialties of medicine, such as Pulmonary, Nephrology, and Oncology is an asset.
