Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a recognized Peri-operative course is required. 5 years of recent experience (within the past two years) is required. Fluency in all services is required. Experience in teaching adult learners; proficient in adult learning principles. Demonstrates knowledge about AHS and department policies and procedures and applies them appropriately. Demonstrated fluency in ORNAC and AORN standards. The incumbent must possess leadership and decision making ability and be able to exercise sound judgment. Demonstrated skills in independent problem solving, is self-motivated and highly reliable, maintains standards, and takes initiative to improve patient care. Demonstrated the ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergency situations is essential. Demonstrates effective speaking and listening skills. Must demonstrate good interpersonal and public relations skills are required. Must demonstrate strong communication skills, both oral and written are essential. Must demonstrate ability to fully meet the physical demands of the job; must be able to lift more than 20 pounds, push and pull stretchers and equipment, transfer patients. Able to stand for extended periods. Able to wear lead protection for extended periods. This position may be required to work in the OR as required.
Preferred Qualifications:CPN (c) is preferred but a combination of education and experience may be considered.
