Required Qualifications:

3-5 years of related experience in addition to a degree in Health Informatics or a health related field, with demonstrated expertise in health information standards including clinical terminologies in an organization of significant size, scope, complexity and diversity plus appropriate certification, licensure or recognized designation. A background in Allied Health with specialized training in clinical terminologies combined with applied knowledge of global health informatics standards including, but not limited to, classifications, HL7 messaging specifications, Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), along with their appropriate application and use across healthcare settings. Appreciation and understanding of the design of classifications, reference terminologies and ontologies with an initial primary focus upon SNOMED CT and domain-specific (LOINC, pCLOCD, nursing, allied health, etc.) clinical terminologies and statistical classifications. Practical experience and an understanding of the clinical and administrative uses of SNOMED CT. Demonstrated knowledge, experience, application and engagement with provincial, national (Canada Health Infoway Standards Collaborative Work Groups.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to analyze emerging provincial, national and international standards to assess 'fit' and 'suitability' with Provincial Terminology Services requirements within the Alberta health system. Understanding of both technical and business requirements required to support an interoperable Clinical Information System across the continuum of care and the importance of information standards to support this functionality. Demonstrating an applied understanding of data element definitions, data dictionaries, metadata, taxonomies, terminologies, classifications and nomenclatures to enable semantic and syntactic interoperability. Developing, reviewing, maintaining, versioning and validating classification and clinical terminology artefacts with a high degree of accuracy and precision. Maintaining low to highly complex interoperable technical solutions or software ("terminology server" or "registry") specifically designed to support clinical terminologies and classifications. Assisting in the review and evaluation of Requests for Information, Requests for Quotes, Requests for Proposal, associated documentation and adding expertise to product demonstrations.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in coordinating research, complex data analysis and/or interpretation, evaluation methodologies, and developing formal reports. Facilitation skills with experience in undertaking liaison and consultations with multiple and diverse stakeholders and interest groups in a politically sensitive environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with advanced technical writing experience. Skills must include the ability to validate and ensure quality.
