Completion of bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Health Education or a related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum bachelor’s degree in Social Work, health, human or social services discipline. Minimum 2 years related experience in a health care setting and/or community-based health, human or social services related setting. Experience communicating and liaising between members of vulnerable populations and health care providers/professionals and community organizations. Experience in planning, developing, delivering and evaluating group education sessions. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Practical knowledge about the structure and functions of the health care system and the ability to effectively navigate the health care system and other community agencies in Lethbridge and area required. Understanding of Canadian culture and norms, including the culture and norms of the health care system, and the ability to relate these to vulnerable populations. Knowledge of vulnerable populations in the community including norms and health values, strengths, beliefs, practices, access barriers and issues. Sensitivity, flexibility and creativity in working with vulnerable populations and the ability to establish trust and respect is essential. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to work collaboratively with vulnerable populations, community organizations and health care providers/professionals, and within multidisciplinary teams. Must possess computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated verbal and written proficiency in another language is an asset. Knowledge of medical terminology.
