Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience with current Canadian Coding standards and DAD/NACRS for the collection of diagnoses, interventions and specific data elements. Proficiency with personal computer (Windows, MS Office). The AHS standard provincial coding proficiency test will be administered during the interview process. Excellent English language skills in reading, writing and oral communications is required. This position requires the individual to have skills in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet established deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of 6 months coding and abstracting experience. Experience with electronic health records. Other key competencies for this role include: evidence of commitment to professional and self-development along with continued education and learning in the field of Health Information Management. Experience with related legislation regarding access, privacy and disclosure of patient information.
