Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Current or recent (with 6-12 months) acute care experience is required. We will consider recent (within 3-6 months) acute care practicums. HCA certificate or equivalent training. Demonstrated effective Interpersonal and Communication Skills. Demonstrated ability to read and speak English fluently. Demonstrated prioritization and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to work within a team and autonomously. Demonstrated emphasis on Infection Prevention and Control practices including hand hygiene Basic computer skills are required. Current BCLS-HCP certification. Ability to manage the job classification of “heavy physical demand” level as per the AHS Job Demands Summary. Ability to wear an AHS fit-tested N95 respirator when required.
Preferred Qualifications:Proven ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Strength in Areas of: Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, Organization and Time Management. Ability to Contribute as Team Member, Learn within a Dynamic Environment and Adapt/Cope with Change. Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with Connect Care and clinical documentation standards.
