Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Acute care experience and/or training within the past 2 years. (Students with preceptorship or practicum experience in acute care will be considered equivalent). Acute care is defined as experience and/or training on an inpatient medical or surgical unit. Must be able to assist patients with bathing, grooming, dressing and other personal hygiene activities, feeding, range of motion exercises, simple wound care, respiratory equipment use and/or urinary care. Able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching above shoulder, and able to lift a minimum of 12kg. Must communicate patient condition to the nurse in a timely manner. Must be assist with safe patient transfers and other duties related to patient care. Able to work in a fast paced and unpredictable environment with frequent interruptions and distractions. Must be competent in providing care to patients newly diagnosed through the continuum of end of life. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for safe patient/family care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Exhibit a high degree of professionalism with strong time management and prioritization skills, and a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic team environment. Have a strong understanding and practices in the prevention and transmission of infection.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum one year within the last three years’ Health Care Aide experience. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth. Experience with Connect Care using a Rover.
