Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations necessary. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills within a team setting. Maintains a standard of high quality care, self-directed and motivated. Demonstrates a caring attitude towards patients and families, ability to relate to clients in a caring manner with respect and dignity. Ability to work collaboratively with team members is essential. Physical ability to assist with lifting, turning, and transferring adult patients essential. Ability to handle the physical demands of the HCA position. Medication course required when working Days/Nights rotations. Please Note: This position is located outside of the Calgary city limits (136 km south of Calgary).
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals considered an asset. Ability to utilize safe transferring and lifting equipment (i.e. It's your Move certification) considered an asset. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) preferred. Previous nursing attendant experience in LTC Supportive Pathways, or Dementia training is preferred.
