Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science. Equivalencies will be considered.

Additional Qualifications:

Training in food safety. Training in the sensory evaluation of food. Minimum of five (5) years of current and progressively responsible experience in institutional/hospital food service (quality control and menu development) or food manufacturing (quality control and product development). Experience in food quality control techniques and standards, including sensory evaluation and objective measurements for assessing food quality and safety. Research experience with the ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative evaluations. Experience with implementing new plans independently with little direct supervision. Proficient with Windows-based computers and programs (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access). Strong customer service, interpersonal, communication, organizational, leadership, teamwork, and time management skills. Ability to function as part of a team & work independently, prioritize work, handle multiple demands in a busy environment, and to ensure detail and accuracy in all work.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least two (2) years current and progressively responsible experience in a multi-site healthcare organization comprised of acute, mixed and long-term care sites is preferred. Experience in patient food service operations is preferred. Experience with menu planning is preferred. Knowledge of automated food service information systems (e.g. CBORD) is preferred. Training in HACCP is preferred.
