As a Retail Food Service Worker you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on visitors and staff as a dedicated member of the Nutrition Food Service (NFS) team. This position will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a positive customer experience. Under the general supervision of a Food Services Supervisor, they will use strong customer service, teamwork and organizational skills to: Prepare, handle, portion and package food and beverages. Provide excellent customer service. Adhere to safety, sanitation, and food preparation standards in accordance with AHS policies and guidelines. Complete cash handling duties. Complete stocking and rotating inventory, tracking waste as required. Preparation and delivery of catering orders. Complete other food service duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be able to: Work in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy. Work as an effective, professional team member. Communicate effectively in English with customers, co-workers, and other hospital departments. Demonstrate a customer first approach. Perform basic math functions. Understand the importance of portion control, food presentation & consistency in quality. Demonstrate their knowledge of menu and understanding ingredients as to best support the customer.
Description:
As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of food service line set up and temperature requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:A minimum of 3 years of Food service experience in a retail setting. Point of Sale (POS) system & cash handling experience. Experience with inventory management. Experience with industrial food service equipment. Food Safe Certificate or equivalent. Workplace Hazard Materials Information System (WHMIS) training. Barista skills. Short order cooking skills.
