The Rural MDRD Educator for the Reprocessing Departments provides leadership in planning, coordination, and evaluation of educational and training activities and needs for staff involved in the reprocessing of Medical Devices. These programs include but are not limited to orientation, compulsory and continuing education as per CSA Standards, clinical development, maintenance of training competencies for surgical processors and working in partnership with post-secondary programs for the training and orientation of students, identification of barriers and solutions for training of staff responsible for sterile reprocessing of Medical Devices in decentralized areas. Maintains competencies of the Surgical Processor in the area of cleaning, disassembly, assembly, sterilization of surgical instruments and case carts. The Reprocessing Educator is responsible for delivery of programs based on identified needs which includes continued competencies, quality improvements and organizational objectives. Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of a medical device reprocessing program including at least 400hrs as a practicum in an active care hospital setting. IAHCSMM or CSA certification required. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a surgical processor in a large acute care setting. Excellent teaching and communication skills. Advance training or professional development in adult education.
