Your Opportunity:
The dietitian completes nutrition assessments and formulates nutrition care plans for inpatients at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. This position addresses referrals on the adult and pediatric psychiatry units as well as any referrals received for patients within the emergency department. There will also be opportunities to pick up additional casual shifts. The dietitian monitors patient outcomes, communicates with team members, and documents in an appropriate manner. Collaboration with all members of the team, from front line food services staff to physicians is required to ensure appropriate nutrition care is provided.
Description:
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidate will demonstrate a Patient First philosophy; be knowledgeable about enteral nutrition; able to support both adult and pediatric patients; and have excellent time management and interpersonal skills. Available for weekend and statutory holidays per the on-call rotation is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Parenteral nutrition restricted activity. Experience working collaboratively with patients and colleagues in an acute care multidisciplinary team. Experience working with mental health clients.
