Your Opportunity:

The Quality Improvement Coordinator provides leadership to the Department of Critical Care Medicine and staff regarding Quality and Safety in alignment with organizational priorities and needs in order to improve care and services to patients, staff and other clients.

Description:

Initiate the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of all departmental Quality Improvement (QI) and Safety projects and initiatives. Provide leadership, guidance and expertise on QI methodology and evaluation. Work collaboratively with departmental leaders in creating a shared culture of safety and respectful inter-professional practice. Promote organizational goals, clinical guidelines and standards of practice. The coordinator will be a primary liaison between sites (4 sites with 5 ICU's) in advancing regional quality improvement and safety initiatives. Work is of an advanced nature and complexity: The nature and scope of this position is complex since it involves tasks and coordination of activities across multiple clinical and administrative of the DCCM. This often includes communication and collaboration with other Internal and external departments and/or groups. Additionally, the complexity of this position is related to the AHS structure, the site-based approach and associated administrative structures to navigate. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise and solves a range of complex problems; takes abroad perspective to identify innovative solutions and recommend best practice. This position requires leadership, guidance and expertise on QI methodology and evaluation with a focus to promote organizational goals, clinical guidelines and standards of practice. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. The person in this position is required to work independently to support the Department.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree or equivalent educational background in a health-related discipline required. Minimum of 7+ years' experience in a health care environment either in a clinical or QI related area. Ability to speak and publish on QI related topics while developing an increasingly credible reputation in QI expertise. Experience and knowledge in Quality Improvement and safety methodology, process analysis, group facilitation and outcome/evaluation strategies. Computer knowledge and proficiency related to databases, word processing, spreadsheets, flow charting, graphics and web-based applications. Management experience preferred. Expertise in program/project management interacting at the middle and senior management level. Demonstrated high level problem solving, conflict resolution and communication skills required. Ability to communicate well and foster positive relationships with all levels of staff.
