Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 Diploma minimum. College certificate/diploma in related health care discipline, such as Community Health Representative, Social Work, or Nursing preferred (If part of a registered profession—registration in good standing with applicable governing body). Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of the diversity of Indigenous cultural and political structures. This position may require a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment. Demonstrated ability and comfort with coaching and teaching individuals and groups. Effective oral and written communication skills. Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to solve routine and standard problems. Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset. Evidence of initiative, flexibility and strong commitment. Demonstrated punctuality, adaptability, discretion and confidentiality. Manager may assign staff as a representative to committee work. CHR is required to travel in their day to day work. It is essential that the staff maintain professional boundaries in their work and be respectful and honor the cultural diversity and spiritual beliefs of their clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working Knowledge of computer applications including basic work processing, email, videoconferencing, internet access, and data entry required. There is client and family contact through education, support, and advocacy. CHR is responsible for developing and maintaining respectful professional working relationships within AHS and with Indigenous clients, families, and communities. CHR is responsible for any additional duties as assigned.
