Your Opportunity:

The Rockyview Day Hospital is an alternative to inpatient admission within Addiction and Mental Health acute care services. This four-week program is a predominantly group-based program with individual therapy support and operates on a stabilization model and supports patients in enhancing coping skills. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful applicant will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment services. The Clinical Supervisor provides direct supervision and consultation to program staff to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of a quality service. This is a leadership position that works collaboratively and in consultation with the Unit Manager to promote clinical development and education within the program. This position works within an interdisciplinary team context, as well as with other AHS programs and community providers. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day clinical programming and regularly meets with clinicians to review cases including assigning cases within the department. The Clinical Supervisor reviews and monitors assessments and charting/documentation to ensure adherence to program and AHS policies/procedures and to ensure that professional and organizational standards are maintained. Participates in the evaluation of the program/service for efficiency and clinical outcomes. Provides clinical consultation and supervision to team members. Facilitates staff development and educational opportunities. Development and implementation of orientation to new staff. Works collaboratively with the Manager to facilitate the continual review and evaluation of clinical practice and program effectiveness.

Description:

As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology or Social Work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with the applicable regulatory college. A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Nursing or in a mental health related discipline. Minimum of 5 years demonstrated clinical experience and excellence in group, individual and family therapy in an addiction and mental health/psychiatric setting. Minimum of 5 years recent (within the last 7 years) adult addiction and mental health experience is required. Extensive training and experience in the assessment/treatment of adults with severe and persistent mental illness required. Ability to facilitate psychotherapeutic groups for acutely mentally ill patients required within the last 5 years. Comprehensive knowledge of regional Mental Health resources and ability to connect clients to resources required. Knowledge of mental health continuum of service. Clinical skills to support/supervise advanced practitioners with frontline care required. Experience with developing/facilitating educational opportunities for staff/other stakeholder required within the last 7 years. Ability to effectively participate in planning/implementation of projects to achieving portfolio objectives. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in program development and evaluation. Minimum 3 years’ experience providing supervision/mentorship, demonstrating innovative clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary team environment.
