Required Qualifications:

Completion of Masters of Nursing Degree. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in nursing required. 5 years recent experience in older adult/geriatric care. Previous CNS or leadership experience. Recent experience with teaching and coaching. Possesses an understanding and vision for advancing practice nursing in older adult care. Recent experience participating in quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication and delegation skills required. Must understand and practice at full scope of practice competency within an interdisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated ability to lead in a continually changing health care environment. Demonstrated organization, initiative, flexibility and autonomy. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team. Recent acute care experience required. Able to demonstrate a clear pattern of continuous professional development in the areas of clinical geriatric care and leadership. Demonstrated ability to use evidence to inform practice and decision making. Advanced computer skills including use of MS office, Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM) and Netcare.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience (3-5 years) as a CNS in older adult acute care. Experience with research. Recent experience leading quality improvement initiatives. Previous experience leading or participating in policy, procedure and/or pathway development. Experience with integrating evidence to help inform or develop clinical guidelines and protocols. Experience in Specialized Geriatrics programs. CNA certification in Gerontology.
