Description:

Reporting to the Program Manager, Calgary Zone Clinical Informatics, the Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) is a professional role that combines proven advanced project management skill and knowledge along with working knowledge and understanding of Alberta Health Services, and ability to work collaboratively with a variety of teams, from frontline clinical staff to senior leaders. This position will support various initiatives and provide ongoing support through Connect Care optimization activities. The CIL will work in partnership with the Calgary Zone clinical operations teams and in collaboration with the Connect Care specialty teams to support optimization and resolution of complex problems. This position will work closely with the Calgary Zone Integrated Quality Management Team, the Connect Care Calgary Zone Project Team, zone leadership and site clinical operations. This role requires an individual with strong people and project management skills, strong leadership, and communication skills (including verbal and visual presentation skills and facilitation skills) and is highly organized. Essential to the role is the ability to lead, develop, monitor project progress, ongoing issues, overarching patient safety trends, optimization priorities, timelines, plans and actively identify and resolve issues and if necessary, escalation of those issues. This position manages many competing priorities and must be nimble, prioritizing issues that require immediate attention. This position requires exceptional communication skills and current experience in working with clinical and operational areas to understand and address the diverse needs of these groups. This position will support reporting, consult on quality assurance reviews, and support QI and educational priorities in the zone.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in a related health care discipline. Significant knowledge and experience working in/ with Connect Care. Proven accountability in managing large, complex projects. Proven project management skills (ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflict, maintain issues lists, manage project plans and escalate issues appropriately). Effective communication and follow-up skills. Proven issues management skills and experience. Membership in good standing with professional organization (i.e. Project Management designation, CARNA, ACP). Strong working knowledge of AHS. Must be able to support positive relationships as well be self-directed and effective in team environments as needed. Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines are essential. Detail oriented and probes for information to fully understand clinical issues, able to understand micro and macro points of view to create collaborative solutions. Has developed depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline. Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment with multiple and competing demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a Business or Health Related field. PMP, Quality Improvement designation or training. Actively and positively negotiate solutions in areas of conflict. Ability to lead IT and clinical operations staff, physicians through complex discussions to generate solutions. Demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development.
