Clinical Educator
Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) requires a Clinical Educator (CE). The primary objective of the CE is to deliver training to EMS direct delivery staff, project management and direction in areas such as transfer of learning, curriculum development, simulation, clinical support and other portfolios that support EMS Learning & Development. Travel within the zone and to other zones may be required. Primarily working weekdays, the Clinical educator may be required on occasion to work weekends and evenings as well.
Description:
As an EMS Clinical Educator, you will identify, develop, implement and deliver various training programs and initiatives, monitor the transfer of learning into actual practice, support the competency assessment process of EMS practitioners, and provide learning and development support to EMS personnel on an ongoing basis. Facilitation modalities include lecture, e-learning, simulation and real-time situation specific coaching and mentoring. Alberta Health Services EMS requires the proof of the successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by the Lifemark organization for all applicants external to AHS or internal to AHS, who do not already hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP and Community Paramedic). Your F.A.R.E. test must be completed six (6) prior to the date of your application. Alberta Health Services EMS may verify results with Lifemark to ensure the candidate has successfully completed the test. Completion of an accredited Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) Advanced Care Paramedic program. Active registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP). Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six (6) demerits. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test taken no more than six (6) months prior to the application date.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of five years Advanced care paramedic field experience and the ability to maintain clinical exposure through regular clinical rotations in the field. Equivalent healthcare qualifications may be considered. Experience in the delivery of adult education in the classroom learning (education) specific to adult education.
Preferred Qualifications:Post-Secondary Education – certificate, diploma, degree in a related field (e.g. Adult education, Online learning, etc.) Instructor certification in ACLS, ACLS-EP, PALS, ITLS, NRP, BLS, NVCI, and The Working Mind for First Responders. Project Management certificate or higher. Demonstrate professional practice & leadership. Education or experience in AV/computer software (photography, video, Lectora, Captivate). Education or experience in curriculum development & instructional design.
