Business Administrator - Cancer Translational Research Core
Your Opportunity:
We have an exciting opening for a Business Administrator position to provide accounting, contracts, and project support for the Cancer Translational Research Core (CTRC) at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The CTRC is a translational research core facility established to accelerate the translation of cancer research discovery into improved cancer patient care. The CTRC is a team of experts in proteomics, genomics, immunology, and computational biology with the goal to identify the molecular changes that drive cancer progression, discover new targets for therapy, and select drugs based on the multi-omics profile of the tumour. The CTRC has ongoing collaborations with different tumour group leaders in the Department of Oncology and with members of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute. We also foster collaborations with other oncology programs and industry partners to speed the translation of research discovery into improved patient care and lead to personalized medicine for each cancer patient.
Description:
In collaboration with the Scientific Research Leads, this position provides business support to track work progress, inventories, accounts and grants management, and financial reconciliation. This position is in-person at Arthur Child and is responsible for managing and coordinating the execution of contracts in accordance with AHS and the U of C’s policies and guidelines. This position will also provide business expertise for research and funding coordination to support internal and external oncology researchers. Activities may include but not limited to invoicing, payments processing, financial reporting, and equipment/materials/supplies procurement. Minute taking and document management for maintaining clinical accreditation of the lab. The position is responsible for monitoring the shared CTRC email account. In addition, this position will assist the Operations Manager and Scientific Directors in strategic planning and accurately identifying budgets to support the short- and long-term goals of the CTRC.

BA or BSc in a related field to the position (accounting and/or business administration). Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a research financial management setting.
Additional Required Qualifications:Develops a detailed working knowledge of sponsoring agency, Alberta Health Services and University policies and guidelines. Experience performing and learning complex administrative tasks with limited or no supervision or guidance. Ability to manage finances in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse and complex issues. Effective communicator with superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a research or academic environment is an asset. Experience with the inner workings of cancer research and various funding streams is an asset.
