Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Minimum 5 years of experience in ICU/CCU. Minimum 2 years of recent charge nurse experience. Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) certification and experience. Proven leadership and communication skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, and teaching. An ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to positively influence an environment of workflow improvement, patient safety, best practice, and continuous quality improvement . Ability to foster partnerships and strong relationships with internal AHS programs and services, and external agencies. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and change management skills. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Ability to maintain effective and respectful working relationships. Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to AHS policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Leadership experience in a critical care environment with demonstrated ability in coaching for performance, mentorship, and conflict management. Management of diverse human and material resources in a changing and complex environment. Expertise working with electronic health information systems (e.g., Meditech, E-Critical, Netcare).
Preferred Qualifications:Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Critical Care certification or equivalent. Advanced Studies of Critical Care Nursing (ACCN) certification or equivalent. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
