Assistant Head Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The Drumheller Health Centre provides services to the residents of the town of Drumheller and surrounding communities. It offers the opportunity to care for a variety of clients within the unit, throughout the continuum of health care including medical, surgical, obstetrical, palliative, emergency, restorative, and long term care patients. In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical leadership, direction, supervision, mentoring to other professionals and unregulated staff. As an RN in long term care, you will leverage your knowledge and experience in meeting the care requirements of a geriatric population. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of quality care following policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services. You will provide quality care to residents through the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the resident care plans. You will assess, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the provision of health services and health care resources. To be successful you will be self-directed with excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills. You have a willingness to learn new skills as required, through ongoing responsibility for maintaining continuing competence through professional development activities. Description:
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of connect care processes and workflow in LTCF. Previous work experience in continuing care. Inter RAI and Care Planning training is an asset. Ability to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and physicians, along with lead a variety of Team Conferences. Sound clinical knowledge so to mentor and lead the nursing team for Resident Care processes. Understanding of weekend coverage with a resident assignment.
