Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurse of Alberta (CRPNA) is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within this unit/program/office expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date, under LOU #25. In the event that no Regular Employee from this unit/program/office expresses their interest by the deadline, the vacancy shall be filled under the provisions of Article 14: Promotions, Transfers and Vacancies. Please be advised this posting may be used to fill multiple identical vacancies arising as a result of the administration of the Trial of Modified Posting Provisions.

Additional Required Qualifications:

At least three years (3) recent, related Surgical nursing experience is required including experience taking Charge. Committed to safe, effective and ethical patient care and work practices. Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment and to deescalate tense situations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to participate as an effective member of and lead the inter-professional team. Good organizational skills as well as problem solving and conflict resolution skills leading to exercising good judgement and decision making. Required to assist with transfers and repositioning of patients. Must be able to independently take a patient assignment as required and respond to a code blue or rapid response. Must stand for long periods and walk for a good portion of the shift. Regularly required to lift in excess of ten (10) pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must be flexible, tactful with a positive reinforcement style and excellent conflict resolution skills. Must be self-motivated, self-directed and able to implement resolutions: must have excellent problem solving skills. Committed to safe, effective and ethical patient care and work practices. Ability to participate as an effective member of and lead the multidisciplinary team. Exercises good judgement in decision making
