Your Opportunity:

As a key member of the Payroll Operations team, the Admin Support V serves as a subject matter expert in the administration and reconciliation of Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) matters. This role operates with a high degree of independence and provides comprehensive guidance, analysis, and investigative problem‑solving support related to workplace injury and WCB pay processes. The position works closely with a broad range of stakeholders, including HR colleagues, leaders, employees, and third‑party providers. The role requires in‑depth knowledge of collective agreement language, employment standards, and payroll‑related legislation, as well as the ability to accurately interpret and apply complex pay rules across multiple employee groups and companies. Working independently within established policies, procedures, and guidelines, the incumbent manages complex or non‑routine issues arising from WCB payroll processing and the reconciliation of Wage Replacement Benefit payments. This position involves regular interaction with employees, managers, HR teams, and external partners to resolve payroll and WCB‑related issues. The ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and independent decision‑making is critical, as responsibilities may span payroll, accounting, and injury claims management. Success in this role requires the ability to quickly grasp and apply extensive knowledge of systems, programs, and processes to ensure accurate and timely WCB reconciliation. The successful candidate will be a critical and analytical thinker with a strong customer‑service focus, attention to detail, and a demonstrated interest in continuous learning and growth within Payroll Operation.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification. Minimum 3–5 years of recent payroll experience (within the past 7 years). Strong technical knowledge and demonstrated expertise within payroll operations. Comprehensive understanding of collective agreements, employment‑related policies, legislation, plans, and processes, with the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge to assess options, make sound decisions, and provide recommendations. Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and issue‑resolution skills, with the ability to investigate complex or non‑routine matters. Excellent communication and organizational skills, including strong oral, written, presentation, and report‑writing capabilities. Proven customer service focus with the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally and effectively. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑demand, and multi‑tasking environment. Demonstrated capability to adapt to change and contribute positively during process improvements or organizational transitions. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze data, reconcile payroll information, and support reporting and investigative activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a unionized environment is preferred. Previous experience working with WCB claims is considered a strong asset.
