The Pulmonary Diagnostics department within SHC is currently recruiting a casual Clerk IV. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Pulmonary Diagnostics, the Clerk IV will assist in completion of clerical tasks associated with the following areas: Pulmonary Function Lab, Pulmonary Clinic, and Bronchoscopy. Within these areas the Clerk IV will be tasked with the following: Management and processing of patient referrals in accordance with Path to Care guidelines. Booking patient appointments in Connect Care. Faxing documentation as required. Liaising with referring sites regarding patient bookings. Data entry into various IT systems. Completion of reminder patient phone calls. Sending and receiving departmental mail. The Clerk IV is an essential part of the healthcare team. The successful candidate must possess strong intrapersonal skills, demonstrate an ability to clearly communicate in stressful situations, and consistently execute attention to detail in work performance. This role also requires a strong ability to multi-task, successfully complete work while managing numerous interruptions, demonstrate flexibility to learn workflows associated with each clinic area, and independently implement problem solving strategies.

Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidate must possess a comprehensive understanding of patient and family centered care with a demonstrated ability to enhance the patient care experience. Additionally, the Clerk IV will maintain Alberta Health Services privacy standards at all times thereby prioritizing patient confidentiality. As such they will adhere to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) and the Health Information Act. They will also self-identify professional development needs and competencies thereby seeking appropriate learning opportunities and critically reflecting on their abilities and practices. Grade 12 graduate or equivalent. Medical Terminology Course. Minimum 1 year working in an ambulatory setting in the last 3 years. Proficiency with the following IT systems: Connect Care Ambulatory/Template Builder/Schegistrar/Referrals, Netcare/eReferral, Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer.
Preferred Qualifications:Applicants with less than 1 year experience may be considered if they have one or more of the following: recent graduate of an accredited Unit Clerk or Medial Office Assistant program and or experience as a Unit Clerk on a medical inpatient unit. Proficiency with database management, completion of Medical Office Assistant course. Proficiency with the following IT systems: Netcare, Ambulatory Connect Care, Right Fax, Impax.
