CCA’s team is made up of leaders in cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care. We're excited to invite a team-oriented, customer service-driven, and highly organized Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic Supportive Care team at the newly opened Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in a casual role. As an Administrative Assistant, you will work under the general supervision of the Manager, providing vital reception and clerical support to ensure smooth clinical service delivery. You'll use your strong decision-making skills, empathy, initiative, and knowledge to anticipate the needs of both patients and providers. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about Allied Health services and CCA's programs. Key duties include scheduling both in-person and virtual appointments, communicating with AHS staff and the public, managing referrals, and assisting with schedules and faxes by using computer-based applications. You'll also help patients navigate across the site and will work with your colleagues to ensure everything runs smoothly to support patients and families experiencing cancer. Applicants should be available to work Monday through Friday, during daytime hours. For the first 8 weeks of this position, we offer a minimum of 4 days per week to help onboard and orient the successful candidate. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk Diploma/education. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel). Minimum two years administrative experience in a hospital or outpatient clinic setting. Must have a consistent customer-centered approach to work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, knowledge translation, and competence in time management. Able to independently recognize and manage confidential patient information and other hospital information. Able to work independently and prioritize competing demands. Able to work with multiple tasks in an environment with constant interruptions. Able to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:At least six months’ working experience in a Medical Office Assistant Role and/or Unit Clerk Role in Connect Care/ EPIC. At least six months of clerical and administrative support experience in an Allied Health department/ program. Experience working in Cancer Care Alberta. Experience with using Zoom (booking, support others to access/ use Zoom). Experience ordering equipment and supplies using Oracle/Procurement, Grand and Toy and other online ordering software.
