Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 or General Equivalency Diploma, supplemented by office assistant courses and/or health record related courses, required. English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication, required. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows bases computer programs and basic computer skills, required. Previous experience in an office environment with in the last five (5) years, required. Accurate data entry/keyboard skills, required. Ability to work with minimal supervision, required. Ability to work well within a team environment, both locally and across multiple sites/programs. Ability to foster positive interpersonal and communication skills in a professional manner with clients, healthcare providers, peers, departmental management, and other individuals who access Public Health services. Ability to prioritize workload to meet established turnaround times, required. Ability to make sound judgment decisions. Ability to adhere to strict organizational policies, procedures and legislated requirements regarding patient confidentiality. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and still meet workload timelines, required. Ability to move and lift moderately (up to 30 pounds) heavy objects, required. Ability to operate basic office equipment, including fax machine, photocopier and personal computer, required. Casual staff are required to have flexibility to workdays, evening or Saturdays when required.
