Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Terminology Certificate required with testing prior to interview (60% pass). Typing speed of 40 wpm required with testing prior to interview. Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required. Ability to maintain confidential information. Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to change. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. Team player with demonstrated ability to work within a team environment, modeling behaviors that support and contribute positively to team operations and working relationships. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be physically able to perform duties involving standing, sitting, bending, reaching and stretching for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift/push/carry up to 50 lbs. and be able to push and pull charts out of mobile shelving. Performs all functions with a high degree of accuracy and maintains or exceeds established productivity standards. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through employment, interview and references. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Applicants selected for an interview will be required to take the typing and medical terminology tests.
Preferred Qualifications:experience in a hospital or medical office setting preferred. Experience with computer applications common to Health Records (eg: Connect Care, PowerTrac, PowerMonitor, eMon, Netcare, PCIS, VAX) preferred. Experience working with health record filing systems. Knowledge of HIA (Health Information Act) and/or FOIP (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) preferred.
