Your Opportunity:

Acute Care Alberta (ACA) is seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of acute care services, ensuring effective, efficient and safe quality performance. In the role of Senior Lead, Acute Care Service Delivery Oversight, you will oversee acute care service delivery across the province and help enable health care professionals to do what they do best: care for patients. The Senior Lead provides strategic leadership to a team of leaders and offers expert guidance to the executive leadership team on acute care operations, such as patient flow, referral policy oversight, capacity planning, and compliance and regulatory management. This role cultivates and fosters strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Lamont Health Centre, and other service delivery organizations. As the Senior Lead, you will oversee the monitoring of key performance metrics including time measures through the utilization of advanced data analytics to inform decision-making, transparency, and accountability. This key leadership roles sets appropriate benchmarks and reporting in place to ensure the delivery of quality care. As this is a provincial team, this position’s location is negotiable within Alberta and may be eligible for a remote/hybrid work arrangement. Acute Care Alberta is a new provincial health agency in Alberta that provides active, short-term care services for patients who have a severe injury, illness, urgent medical condition, or are recovering from surgery. Delivering health care and overseeing health operations at hospitals and urgent care centres, ACA ensures that every Albertan receives the care they need as soon as they need it.

Description:

The Senior Lead, Acute Care Service Delivery Oversight is accountable for overseeing the day-to-day operations of acute care services, ensuring effective, efficient and safe quality performance. The role designs and implements policy mandates related to bed capacity, patient flow, and the strategic allocation and efficient utilization of resources to optimize acute care delivery. Reporting to the Executive Lead, the Senior Lead ensures operational targets are met while driving efficiency and effectiveness across the system, reporting on performance metrics and operational outcomes. As a key member of the Service Delivery Oversight team, the Senior Lead oversees system capacity reporting, ensuring accurate and timely information is available for decision making and compliance with regulatory standards. The Senior Lead is responsible for liaising with Chief Zone Officers (Corridor Leads) to discuss policy and practice, with the intent of improving patient care and operating effectiveness of the Acute Care system. The Senior Lead supports the Executive Lead and other members of the Service Delivery Oversight team regarding the provision of acute care services. The Senior Lead establishes and maintains positive relationships with relevant representatives and stakeholders, including government departments and officials, to ensure effective delivery of acute care services.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in health care management, business administration or related health care field. At least 7 years’ senior management experience in health care or other public sector environment.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven experience developing organizational strategy and planning, policy development, and project management. Experience leading strategic initiatives and manage change to achieve positive results. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including comfort with decision-making and exercising sound judgement. With excellent communication skills, you have proven ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations, and you communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including internal and external stakeholders. You have experience working with government ministries, universities, public agencies and elected officials A proven record of engaging in ethical conduct.


Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree and acute care operational experience are preferred.
