Your Opportunity:

The Unit Manager - Medical Cardiology performs a leadership role and is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day clinical and operational needs of Patient Care Unit 81 - Medical Cardiology at FMC and reports to the Patient Care Manager. This patient and family centered care unit consist of 41 acute medical cardiology beds. Patient populations commonly served on this unit includes but are not limited to heart failure, coronary artery disease, pre and post cardiac transplant heart rhythm disorder and cardiac device patients.

Description:

The Unit Manager is responsible for the daily operation and supervision of professional nursing practice and support staff on Patient Care Unit 81. In conjunction with the Patient Care Manager, the Unit Manager participates in budget planning; implementing and maintain standards of practice; hiring, supervising and evaluating professional and support staff, implementing changes to structure, processes and procedures in order to achieve improved outcomes in patient satisfaction, quality care and resource utilization.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with current active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Previous leadership experience and skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and establishing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent communicator with strong organizational, analytical, planning, influential skills and financial management. Strong commitment to patient and family centered care and providing quality services. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical cardiology experience.
