AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Rural Acute Care Manager at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, with responsibility for leadership and management of the teams providing care in the emergency department, and outpatient department. In this position you will support a dynamic healthcare team, and a diverse patient population living and working in a rural community. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. Reporting to the Director, Rural Acute Care, and in partnership with the other local managers, you will provide staff and program leadership through demonstrated consistency of practice, competence as a leader, as well as commitment to the team, and to the overall purpose and vision of the portfolio, and the organization.
Description:
The Rural Acute Manager is responsible to provide staff and program leadership, in addition, support and manage clinical operations in the outpatient clinic and the Emergency Department at Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. This position will have the opportunity to inform and support the implementation of local, zonal, and/or provincial initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include ensuring the effective deployment of human resources (scheduling, rotations, skill mix, recruitment) and creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace where staff feel engaged, supported, and valued, and can do their best work every day. This could include but is not limited to supporting just in time learning, coaching, mentoring, orientation, and ongoing staff training and development. Additionally, the manager will ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources across the area of accountability and understand and report on the operating budget in accordance with established AHS policies and practices. It is expected the manager will foster a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing delivery of safe, high-quality, consistent patient and family centred care.

Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated effective problem solving. Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster relationships to further the effectiveness of both the site(s) managed and programs contained within. Knowledge and understanding of Collective agreements and working with a unionized workforce. Discretion with sensitive situations, data, and personnel. Ability to work hard, have fun & contribute to a dynamic, successful healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience leading healthcare teams & providing innovative solutions to complex system issues. Proven coaching skills to support team members to reach their full potential. Experience in a leadership role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Strong knowledge of Emergency and the corresponding complexities.
