Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years' experience performing a clerical or administrative role in a inpatient acute care setting required. Proficient computer skills using MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: knowledgeable of the available inpatient and outpatient programs and patient flow within the system. Exercises sound judgement and confidentiality when dealing with patient information. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, public and the multi-disciplinary team. Ability to be self-directed and motivated and exercise independent decision making. Demonstrated analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of work. Superior critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making skills and experience resolving complex issues. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience (3 years recent) in acute care; past experience outpatient/community setting. Connect Care training is an asset. Completion of a Medical Terminology course is preferred. Experience using Clinibase, Netcare. Post-secondary education (e.g. Office Administration, Unit Clerk, MOA) or equivalent preferred.
