Unit Clerk
Your Opportunity:
As a Unit Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient flow of communication among healthcare professionals, departments, patients, and families while maintaining the confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. You will be responsible for a wide range of administrative and clerical duties, including reception services; greeting and directing visitors, patients, and staff; maintaining patient records and charts; transcribing and processing physician orders; and coordinating the scheduling of patient tests, procedures, and treatments. Working within the Neuroscience program in an acute care setting, you will provide essential administrative support that contributes to patient flow, continuity of care, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration. You will also assist with unit operations, including communication management, staffing and scheduling support, payroll-related processes, and other administrative activities that help ensure the smooth functioning of the unit. Success in this role requires strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, adaptability, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to patients, families, and the healthcare team. The candidate must also possess the physical capability to perform all aspects of the role, including the ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Has experience working in acute care. Must be willing to float to other Neuroscience ward. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. Prioritization, organization and time management skills are required. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Ability to function effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team required. The incumbent can expect to work with many competing priorities, often within restrictive timelines.
Preferred Qualifications:Advanced computer skills in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, e-People and Connect Care is preferred.
