Red Deer Regional Hospital is seeking an experienced Unit Clerk for our Pre Admission Clinic. The Pre Admission Clinic is responsible for providing pre-operative care and instruction for elective surgery patients, supporting services such as Urology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Plastics, Gynecology and select Cardiology cases. This dynamic environment requires strong coordination, adaptability, and collaboration to support safe, efficient patient care. The Unit Clerk is an integral member of the Pre Admission Clinic and plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of the unit. The Unit Clerk provides essential clerical support supporting both clinical staff, patients, and families. The Unit Clerk is responsible for: scheduling a large volume of pre-operative appointments with the interdisciplinary team; managing incoming and outgoing telephone calls; greeting, directing and providing information to patients/families related to patient appointments and scheduled surgery. We are seeking a Unit Clerk to join our team who possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to rapidly reprioritize while multitasking as well as a demonstrated ability to remain professional, supportive and adaptable during periods of high workload. Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working with Connect Care. Must have excellent communication skills as there is a high degree of interaction with patients, families and an interdisciplinary team. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Minimum of 3 years of recent Unit Clerk experience (recent refers to experience within the past 5 years).
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to qualified internal applicants with Connect Care experience specific to the role.
