Unit Clerk
Your Opportunity:
The Unit Clerk in the Preoperative Assessment Clinic provides administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient patient flow and clinic operations. This role involves greeting and rooming patients, coordinating appointments, registering patients by phone, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting communication between patients, nurses, and physicians.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk, or Health Unit Coordinator certificate preferred. Previous clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare setting. Experience with Connect Care system and medical terminology. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and order processing.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of preoperative or surgical clinic workflows. Ability to prioritize competing tasks efficiently. Customer service experience in a healthcare environment. Completion of Connect care training in Front desk, Registration Basics, Ambulatory Unit Clerk.
