Unit Clerk
Your Opportunity:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for performing clerical, receptionist and booking duties for the unit. Your duties will include performing admission, discharge and transfer functions, assisting in maintaining patient records and charts, supply management, as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments answering telephone calls, answering the patient call bell system, and monitoring of unit and patient access. As the first point of contact for families entering the NICU, you will play a key role in fostering an effective team environment on the unit. You will be instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families. You will be major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Preferred Qualifications:Current experience working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within 1 year Knowledge of computers and programs, including Excel, Word and Connect Care. Experience in managing referrals in Work queue 5, admitting, transferring and discharging patients in Connect Care
