Your Opportunity:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience working in an acute care environment is required. Demonstrated proficiency in payroll processing, timekeeping, and staff scheduling systems (e.g., ePeople). Strong prioritization, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing demands. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Willingness and ability to float to other Neuroscience units/wards as operational needs dictate. Processes payroll and timekeeping transactions using ePeople, including accurate entry of employee timesheets and compliance with applicable terms and conditions of employment. Responds to payroll-related inquiries, investigates discrepancies, and facilitates timely resolution in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Supports staffing operations by ensuring timely, accurate documentation related to employee scheduling, attendance, and leave management. Schedules patient appointments in accordance with established procedures and protocols. Maintains, monitors, and updates appointment waitlists, ensuring accurate tracking, prioritization, and follow-up in compliance with departmental guidelines. Processes referrals to internal and external services. Maintains a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail in a dynamic clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced computer skills in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, e-People and Connect Care is preferred.
